These collaborations are part of the University’s ongoing efforts to uplift educational and professional development for its students.

Between January to April 2024, James Cook University (JCU) in Singapore formalised six Memoranda ofUnderstanding (MOU) with organisations across Singapore. Through these new alliances, the University aims to enhance its students’ academic experiences and strengthen their career prospects.

"We are excited to work with the organisations to make a difference through initiatives such as research, real-world industry exposure, networking opportunities, and contributions to the community," says Professor Stephen Boyle, JCU Deputy Vice Chancellor and Head of Campus, Singapore.

31 January 2024: ESGTech
ESGTech provides tools and support to businesses for their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) analysis, strategy and reporting. Under the agreement with JCU in Singapore, ESGTech has provided the University with access to ESG tools that can be used for the learning purposes of our students. Given the importance of the ESG agenda within companies, this helps JCU in Singapore’s students to be up to date with the integration of ESG and digital tools into business strategy. Next to this, ESGTech and JCU in Singapore are further exploring opportunities to develop joint ESG projects.

31 January 2024: Singapore Psychological Society (SPS)
This collaboration with professional association SPS provides Psychology students at JCU in Singapore with access to talks, workshops, and other activities led by SPS members. It will also allow SPS, SPS Youth Wing, and JCU Singapore Psychological Society to work together and hold psychology-related activities such as career fairs, membership recruitment fairs, talks, training, and research competitions.

11 March 2024: Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI)
The MOU between JCU in Singapore and SICCI brings along exciting new opportunities. For one, JCU in Singapore will be recognised as an education partner. The collaboration will also provide internship opportunities, as well as potential employment for JCU graduates in SICCI and its member organisations. Together with its members, SICCI will participate in JCU’s career fairs and mentorship programme. Additionally, the MOU offers SICCI's members opportunities to learn more about JCU’s Centre for International Trade and Business in Asia (CITBA).

24 April 2024: Allkin Singapore
Recognising the increasing importance of and demand for social services, JCU in Singapore and community-driven social service agency Allkin Singapore plan to work together on various activities with the aim to enhance capabilities amongst mental health practitioners. These include postgraduate practicum placements, undergraduate internships and work attachments, graduate hiring, alumni engagement, speaking engagements, research collaborations, as well as professional development courses and qualifications.

24 April 2024: Children’s Aid Society (CAS)
Also in the spirit of enhancing capabilities and access to social services, this alliance will see JCU in Singapore and CAScollaborating on work attachments, internships, placements, graduate hiring, research collaborations, as well as industry and professional talks. Melrose Care, a service under CAS, is a community-based agency that provides subsidised counselling and specialised therapies to children, youths and families.

24 April 2024: SkilledIn
Green
Through this collaboration with planet-focussed human resource tech solution SkilledIn Green, students can look forward to more opportunities in the areas of undergraduate internships/placements, postgraduate internships and placements, graduate hiring, research collaborations, as well as industry and professional talks.

"These MOUs reinforce our ongoing dedication to promote mutual growth for our students and our collaborating organisations who are passionate about making a difference for our students and the community,” says Professor Boyle.

“We look forward to working with these organisations and will remain committed to continually seeking more opportunities to help our students expand their horizons, so that they can thrive in university and also beyond their time with us," he adds.
