James Cook University in Singapore has signed an MOU to set up Center of Innovation in Aquaculture

On 3rd October 2018 James Cook University, Singapore, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate the establishment of a Centre of Innovation in Aquaculture.The MOU was signed between JCU, NUS, NTU, Republic Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority and A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research) under Temasek Polytechnic’s coordinating efforts.

The Singapore campus of James Cook University (JCU) has signed 2 service agreements with Chinese Services Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), the government agency on behalf of Ministry of Education (MOE), China on 10th August 2018. The 2 service agreements are student recruitment agreements from Scottish Qualifications Authority – Higher National Diploma (SQA-HND) and Study Abroad Training Center (SATC).

The Ocean Mapping Expedition reveals its first greenhouse gases "hot spots" on the surface of the oceans in the wake of Magellan

The Swiss expedition engaged in a 4-year journey (2015-2019) around the world in the wake of Magellan on board sailboat Fleur de Passion to measure the human impact on the oceans has already identified several strong methane and carbon dioxide emission areas between Mactan, Philippines, where The Winds of Change program on monitoring greenhouse gases was launched at the end of 2017 in partnership with the University of Geneva, and Singapore where the expedition arrived on 13 March 2018.The stopover of The Ocean Mapping Expedition at the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore and James Cook University, will offer opportunities to visit the boat and raise awareness about the other scientific programs of the expedition on noise and micro-plastic pollution of the oceans and coral bleaching due to global warming.
